Pádraig Murray – President

Pádraig is a professional actor and he has worked in both Ireland and the UK. He has been a member of Equity since the early 80’s. Padraig is President of Irish Equity for the last 8 years. Before that he was Vice-President for 2 years. He is also President of SIPTU’s Arts and Culture Sector. In that time he has been involved in many negotiations on terms and conditions and rates of pay for performers in the Irish Republic. He is currently represented by and a founding member of ReActors Agency.

Gerry O’Brien – Vice-President

Gerry O’Brien’s career now spans 5 decades having made his professional debut at the Gate theatre in 1970. He has worked on most of the stages in Ireland over the years appearing in productions of Shakespeare, Moliere, Yeats, O’Casey as well as Hugh Leonard, Neil Simon and Tom Murphy. He has appeared in numerous TV plays and series for RTE and BBC and for US television. He is a much sought after voice actor working in the fields of voice over, audiobook and documentary narration and radio drama. Gerry has been a member of Equity all his career serving as Equity rep in his early career and on the Executive. His current role is Vice President. 

Ann Russell (Trustee)

Ann Russell has worked in the industry for 30+ years as an actor, director and teacher. She trained with the late Deirdre O’Connell at the Focus Stanislavski Studio at the Lee Strasberg Institute in NYC. She has an MA in Modern Drama from UCD and a teaching diploma from London College. During the 1990’s she appeared in many productions at Focus and has also worked extensively both in Ireland and the UK.  She is a member of ReActors Co-operative Agency: http://www.reactors.ie/female#/ann-russell/

Melissa Nolan

Melissa Nolan holds an MA in Performance Drama & H.Dip in Theatre from University College Dublin and H.Dip in Speech and Drama from Leinster School of Music & Drama. She is Co-founder of Mouth on Fire Theatre Company, who specialise in the work Samuel Beckett. To date she has performed ten Beckett plays, three of which were World Premieres (Irish language) In Ireland, UK, Russia, India and Japan. Melissa was awarded Best Design/Best Imaginative/Inspirational Production at the Cherepovets Literary Festival, Russia. Melissa has produced over 30 productions for Mouth on Fire and as a free lance Theatre Producer.

Andrea Irvine

Andrea has been an actor for 27 years. She has worked extensively in Irish theatre, film and television. She has been a member of the Equity Executive  for the last 4 years. This has allowed her to feel more involved in how the Industry operates and see first hand how the Union can effectively tackle problems and negotiate for more favourable conditions for those working in the sector. In a freelance environment Equity fights for the dignity of workers.
