Skills: | To the business of acting I bring the raw material of my life. Along with a decent, flexible voice, some authority, an intuitive stillness, a sense of mystery and wonder, an internalised silence, strength and vulnerability in some measure, a raging curiosity, an ironic, intuitive intelligence, boundless energy and staying power, and, above all else, the ability to dredge the script, and my 70 years, for the insights and discoveries from which authentic, believable people can be conjured into life and revealed to the observer/viewer/audience. |
Film: | Without screen-acting 'previous' I am a 70-year-old actor who is a ‘screen virgin’, having been seduced from the stage early on by the twin glamours of radio and television presentation and direction. This interruption to my acting career presents film directors, and myself, with boundless fresh possibilities to explore. |
Voice Over: | I voiced all my own films and documentaries. |
